The 6 Best Views in Lisbon: See the Most Astonishing Lisbon Miradouros! (With Locations!)

Lisbon is known for its incredible miradouros or viewpoints as it’s built on seven hills that offer incomparable views! Find the absolute best views in Lisbon for free, by doing this little Lisbon miradouros crawl instead of waiting forever in line to ride the Santa Justa Lift. Let me introduce you to the top 6 spots where you’ll find the best views in Lisbon, Portugal!

MIRADOURO DAS PORTAS DO SOL

ADDRESS: Largo Portas do Sol, 1100-411, Lisboa, Portugal

You’ll start out this Lisbon miradouro crawl at Miradouro Das Portas do Sol. This beautiful Lisbon viewpoint is in the Alfama neighborhood. Miradouro das Portas do Sol is a gorgeous big balcony with the perfect, best views of Lisbon’s quintessential red roofs and the Tagus River. The infamous Tram 28 (which I spoke about in a little more detail in the first part of the Lisbon series) has stops nearby, but it’s actually faster to walk up from the Lisbon cathedral by following the tram tracks. The Recolhimento viewpoint is also nearby.

MIRADOURO DE SANTA LUZIA

ADDRESS: Largo de Santa Luzia, 1100-487, Lisboa, Portugal

Up next, you’ll hit Miradouro de Santa Luzia. This Lisbon viewpoint is also in the heart of the oldest neighborhood in Lisbon, Alfama, and can be accessed by taking Tram 28 or by bus (use Google Maps for the route). We were able to easily reach this viewpoint because we did a free Alfama walking tour that stopped here, at Miradouro das Portas do Sol and Miradouro Santo Estêvão Belvedere. Well, let me rephrase that because it wasn’t easy. There were A LOT of stairs to climb on the way there. But our Alfama-expert guide Cecília effortlessly guided us to this beautiful view in Lisbon!

SANTO ESTÊVÃO BELVEDERE

ADDRESS: Beco do Carneiro 3, 1100-219 Lisboa, Portugal

Miradouro Santo Estêvão Belvedere is a lesser-known Lisbon miradouro. It was the first viewpoint stop during our free Alfama walking tour. Our tour guide Cecília mentioned it was one of her favorites and one of the best views in Lisbon. And I agree with her! It’s a Lisbon miradouro that’s slightly off the beaten path as it’s nestled in Alfama’s winding alleyways and stairways. It’s not as crowded as the viewpoints more frequented by tourists like Miradouro de Santa Luzia and Miradouro das Portas do Sol so that sets this Lisbon viewpoint apart.

Miradouro da Graça

ADDRESS: Calçada da Graça, 1100-265, Lisboa, Portugal

Miradouro da Graça is definitely one of the best views in Lisbon as it offers truly gorgeous panoramic views of the city. The walk up the hill is worth it as you’ll be able to soak in the sun and take in breathtaking views of the city when you make it to the top! This is also the perfect miradouro to catch the sunset in Lisbon. It’s a little busy but not too bad!

Castelo de São Jorge

ADDRESS R. de Santa Cruz do Castelo, 1100-129, Lisboa, Portugal

I didn’t go to Castelo de São Jorge. But this was a recommendation I saw often during my very intense and official pre-trip research. It’s the only Lisbon viewpoint on this list that is not actually free (the tickets are €15; about $17 USD). It’s a wonderful view according to everything I’ve read!

Miradouro de São Pedro de AlcÂntara

ADDRESS: R. de São Pedro de Alcântara, 1200-470, Lisboa, Portugal

This viewpoint is right next to Elevador da Glória (AKA Glória Funicular), one of the three funiculars in Lisbon. This funicular connects Praça dos Restauradores to Miradouro de São Pedro de Alcântara in the Barrio Alto district. You cannot miss seeing the panoramic views of Lisbon from up here. There’s a lovely terrace where you can sit and watch the city come alive!
