If you’re craving a getaway that feels like stepping into an architectural dreamscape carved straight into Baja California’s rocky hills, let me introduce you to Mira Earth Studios Valle de Guadalupe.
This eco-luxury boutique hotel completely redefines what it means to stay in Mexico’s wine country — think minimalist design, private jacuzzis, in-room infrared saunas and sunrise views that make you forget your job even exists.
During my stay, I sipped local wine by the fire pit, floated in the infinity pool above vineyards, and watched the valley light up in gold like a true main character in my life’s movie. Here’s everything you need to know (and a few things you’ll absolutely fall in love with) about Mira Earth Studios, one of the most stunning stays in Valle de Guadalupe.

About Mira Earth Studios

When it comes to Baja California wine country stays, your options at the beginning of your search may feel endless. But don’t feel like you don’t know where to begin because Mira Earth Studios is one of the loveliest boutique hotels in Valle de Guadalupe!
Designed by Nicaraguan architect Juniette Bermúdez, Mira Earth Studios perfectly blends minimalism, sustainability and natural luxury since 2023. Each of the ten studios uses natural materials like rammed earth and native plants to merge seamlessly with the Baja desert landscape.
The hotel’s vibe focuses on inspiring you to reconnect with yourself and nature through their thoughtful amenities and minimalist design. When I started to search where to stay in Valle de Guadalupe, I dove deep into comparing countless options of Baja California wine country stays. But I kept coming back around to Mira Earth Studios because of the amenities, ceiling-to-floor walls and gorgeous pool!
Location & How to Get There

Mira Earth Studios is located inside Rancho Sordo Mudo, a ranch founded in 1969 as a school for deaf children, in Valle de Guadalupe. You can find it at Carretera Ensenada–Tecate, Valle de Guadalupe KM 75, 22880 Ensenada B.C. Mexico.
Coming from San Diego or Tijuana, it takes about 1 hour and 45 minutes to get to Valle de Guadalupe driving through the Ensenada scenic toll highway. The drive is about 120 kilometers once you cross from San Diego into Tijuana through either the Otay Mesa or San Ysidro international crossings.
The Concept Behind Mira Earth Studios Valle de Guadalupe
The Rooms & Design Experience

Each room at Mira Earth Studios features amenities that are proof of the attention to detail that went into the design. You’ll sleep on the comfiest king-size bed that I can personally testify was absolutely like sleeping on fluffy clouds.
I seriously had some of the most restful sleep I’ve had in a bit at Mira Earth Studios — and not just because of the wine tasting at Casa Magoni and the afternoon we spent in the pool.
Additionally, each suite at Mira Earth Studios Valle de Guadalupe features floor-to-ceiling windows, private terraces with incomparable valley views, an in-room infrared sauna, a living room, dining table and kitchenette.

The kitchenette and minibar are stocked with food and drink items made in collaboration with local chefs and winemakers that you can purchase for a night in. These include Baja-politan pizzas, local salumi, Mexican cheeses, chips, nuts, small cheeseboards, local wine, pre-bottled cocktails and beer.
You can awaken your senses before a day of wine-tasting with a cup of the complimentary, locally roasted coffee or tea. Mira Earth Studios also offers an optional breakfast basket that includes eggs, freshly baked bread, fruit and more to be delivered to your room. NOTE: You will have to do the cooking yourself!
Built Into the Baja Landscape

The huge windows beautifully frame Valle de Guadalupe’s rolling hills and vineyards — creating a picture-perfect setting to sip locally produced wine in the jacuzzi, making s’mores by the fire pit or catching the sun’s rays as they slowly reach over the hills in the morning.
The hotel’s design lets you in on the secret that these studios are meant to blend into the hills with their rammed-earth walls — I could only spot it from the road when I reaaaally looked closely.
Private Amenities: Saunas, Fire Pits & Jacuzzis

This is a place for ultimate relaxation and that’s why your stay includes an in-room infrared sauna, a fire pit and a jacuzzi. They even provide a cute, little s’mores kit for a night-cap treat under the stars.
We loved the fire pit because it was exactly what the chilly, low-60s night called for after a day of exploring Valle de Guadalupe. The quiet-hours policy ties all of this together in the recipe for a night of restful peace.
Although they’re known to provide some health benefits, I don’t think saunas are for me. I’ve only been in one once upon a time at a spa in Cancun, but it just felt like I was suffocating and melting. So I didn’t use the in-room one at Mira Earth Studios Valle de Guadalupe, but it’s still pretty mind-blowing to have a private sauna in your hotel room!
Interior Design Details You’ll Obsess Over
To add another layer to the studios’ relaxing atmosphere, you can control every single light fixture, lamp, the blackout curtains and the projector curtains with a tablet. This allows you to customize the lighting vibe to whatever your heart desires.
The Infinity Pool & Outdoor Spaces

One of the top reasons why I decided to book my stay at Mira Earth Studios was the beautiful infinity pool that overlooks the valley. Mira Poolside is the hotel’s first communal space, featuring a guest lounge, infinity pool, shaded terraces and daybeds, and an open-air kitchen and bar. It’s easily one of the best infinity pools in Valle de Guadalupe — a must-see for design lovers visiting Mexico’s wine country.
The View That’ll Alter Your Brain Chemistry

Whether it’s driving up the one-kilometer distance up the hill from the highway, laying on the king-size bed in the studios, or gathering in the pool, the views of the valley are impeccable at Mira Earth Studios.
When I tell you this sunset altered my brain chemistry, it truly did! Seeing the fog wander above the vineyards and the sun slowly come up and over the hills was so mesmerizing. The peace and quiet of that sunrise is something I’ll cherish forever.
The Pool Lounge & Open-Air Kitchen

The stunning pool lounge is not only open for Mira Earth Studios hotel guests, but non-guests can also get a day pass for the pool or make reservations for poolside snacks and drinks at the kitchen and bar.
Now, I’ve already gushed repeatedly about the infinity pool. But guess what? There’s also a super cozy jacuzzi with the valley and vineyards as the perfect backdrop. It’s truly a haven especially built for unwinding and enjoying the greater things in life!
Mira Poolside’s menu of handheld snacks and small dishes was curated by award winning chefs and it presents bold flavors inspired by Baja California. We tried the guacamole with fire-roasted tostadas and I happily indulged in several Solana Spritzes from their spirits menu. Both were great and I can’t wait to try more from their menu.
Relaxation Vibes: Daybeds, Drinks & Desert Silence

Capping our one-day trip to Valle de Guadalupe with a couple of hours of pool time was one of the best decisions I’ve made as of late. My friend Cinthia and I essentially had the pool to ourselves most of the afternoon. We relaxed in the pool, drank some cocktails, devoured the guac’ on the day beds and reveled in the serene atmosphere and views. I need more days like this in my life because it was simply perfect!
Nearby Restaurants Worth Checking Out

Looking for a more complete sit-down meal? Don’t miss out on the exquisite farm-to-table fine dining nearby! Because Mira Earth Studios’ kitchen only serves smaller dishes, you have to leave the hotel for a sit-down dinner or fuller breakfast. Luckily, Fauna, Ojá, Animalón and La Cocina de Doña Esthela are just a few of the nearby-ish renowned restaurants you absolutely need to add to your Valle de Guadalupe itinerary.

Mira Earth Studios introduced me to the wonder of Valle de Guadalupe boutique stays and I’m totally hooked! This is one of the best stays in Valle de Guadalupe because of its extraordinarily relaxing atmosphere, unbeatable amenities and sheer aesthetics. Add the kitchen’s bold flavors, those super comfy beds and the sunrise views to that. Plus, you’ll be close to some of the best wineries in Valle de Guadalupe!
Sustainable Luxury Done Right
From its energy-efficient design to locally sourced amenities, Mira Earth Studios sets the standard for sustainable boutique hotels in Valle de Guadalupe.
Perfect for Couples & Weekend Getaways
This spot’s the perfect place for a weekend getaway with friends or your significant other! The vibes at Mira Earth Studios are naturally romantic with the design’s elegant earthy touches, the in-room amenities, and overall coziness of the studios themselves.
On the other hand, the lounge’s pool, jacuzzi and daybeds also create the exact energy needed for an evening of fun with friends.
Mira vs. Other Luxury Hotels in the Valley

So far, my only experience with luxury hotels in Valle de Guadalupe is with Mira Earth Studios. This introduction set a high bar for me, and I can’t wait to get to experience other similar stays. The location, proximity to restaurants and wineries, and even whether there’s a winery or dining on site are important factors to consider when picking a hotel in Valle de Guadalupe.
Because Mira Earth Studios’ kitchen only serves smaller dishes, you have to leave the hotel for a sit-down dinner or fuller breakfast. Luckily, Fauna, Ojá and Animalón are all less than 15 minutes away by car.
Other options like Bloodlust, La Cocina de Doña Esthela and Lunario are a farther drive away (about 25 minutes). Don’t miss my complete Valle de Guadalupe guide for more recommendations!
Planning Your Stay at Mira Earth Studios

You’ll definitely want to take full advantage of the unbeatable amenities at Mira Earth Studios. I personally planned my one-day trip to Valle de Guadalupe around them. We made sure to not overbook ourselves with wine tastings and restaurant reservations so we had time to really enjoy our eco-luxury hotel stay.
Mira Earth Studios is about 30 minutes from downtown Ensenada, making it an ideal base for exploring Baja’s wine region and letting you explore during a Valle de Guadalupe weekend getaway.
This hotel comes with a higher price point on weekend stays — generally between $500–$680 USD per night. But they have pretty good offers on stays during the week. For example, their Wine & Unwind and Midweek Haven offers have some of the better prices (for a luxury stay!) where you can book two or more nights Sunday–Thursday starting at $325 USD a night. For comparison, we paid $690 USD for one Friday night!
Best Time to Visit Valle de Guadalupe

The best time to visit Valle de Guadalupe depends on a few things: what atmosphere you’re looking for, what kind of weather you’re ok with and what your plans will be.
If you’re looking for restaurants and wineries to be less crowded, visiting Monday–Friday is a good option. Valle de Guadalupe is a popular destination for younger people looking to party, so the weekends tend to be busier in general. This means reservations can be harder to find if not booking ahead of time and traffic can get heavy.
Season-wise, summer to early fall (May–October) has warmer temperatures with pretty hot days and warm nights. And with the high season comes heavier crowds and higher accommodation prices due to the harvest celebrations and other events.
Fiestas de la Vendimia, or the Wine Harvest Festival, happens in early August. It’s a big event with lots of people coming in from all over to enjoy wine tastings, wine workshops, concerts, food events and more. Keep in mind accommodation availability goes fast and prices go up during this time.
During the low season in December–April, you can expect milder weather, less crowds and better accommodation prices. If you’re looking for a more quiet trip, traveling to Valle de Guadalupe during the low season is perfect!
Some places like restaurants and wineries are closed on Tuesdays — keep that in mind if you plan on visiting during the week.
Tips for Booking Mira Earth Studios Valle de Guadalupe

The price per night during the weekends is a bit higher than my regular travel budget, but the money was definitely well-spent. As I mentioned earlier, we paid $690 USD for one night with taxes included. We also paid $37.50 USD for the breakfast basket for two people which came with locally sourced eggs, freshly baked bread, fruits, jams and juice.
We booked our studio about a month before the trip and had no problems with availability. In fact, we were the only guests using the pool all afternoon. But you’ll probably need to book in advance for busier months or for las Fiestas de la Vendimia.
What to Pack for Your Eco-Luxury Escape

Obviously bring a bathing suit because you’ll definitely want to take advantage of the pool and private jacuzzi. Nights and early mornings can get chilly as early as September — make sure to pack a light jacket or layers for when you catch the sunset or sunrise by the fire pit!
Pack a pair of shoes you don’t mind walking through dirt with because a lot of roads and the walks up to wineries and restaurants are unpaved.
Final Thoughts: Would I Stay Here Again?

The short answer is YES. The long answer is yes, but there were three things that took a couple of points off our stay. The first was that we couldn’t figure out how to lock the terrace door. I’m not sure if it has a lock and we didn’t ask nor bring it up to staff. As a woman, but really just in general, I’m looking out for my safety at all times while traveling.
I felt comfortable at Mira Earth Studios despite not being able to lock the door simply because to get to the terrace, you’d have to climb up the hill and it’s at least a kilometer from the road. And you need a code to enter the property. If I stay here again, I’d definitely ask about the lock on the terrace door.
The other two minor notes were that our breakfast basket didn’t arrive at the requested time and there was no hot water when we showered. We had to call the front desk to see when our breakfast basket would come because it was about 45 minutes past the requested time and we were starving. We didn’t complain about the water, and we still had to pay for the basket. So do with that information what you will!
I still loved everything else about Mira Earth Studios, and I would love to stay here again. I’d like to try more of their small plates by the pool and also sleep on those beds again! This zen-like stay was the cherry on top of our one-day trip to Valle de Guadalupe. You can read all about that in my Valle de Guadalupe one-day trip guide and also get the tea on the best wineries, restaurants and experiences in Valle de Guadalupe.
If you’re looking for the best boutique hotels in Valle de Guadalupe, look no further than Mira Earth Studios. This eco-luxury hotel in Mexico’s wine country will give you the space to relax, unwind and reconnect with the beautiful things in life!
